Prof. Alain Blanchard

Alain BLANCHARD is Professor of microbiology at the University of Bordeaux. He is a specialist of bacteria belonging to the class Mollicutes, combining synthetic biology tools with comparative genomics within Mollicutes and with model organisms. Prof. Blanchard also develops applied projects aiming at finding new ways to control epidemics due to phytoplasmas, with a particular interest in grapevine diseases such as Flavescence dorée that is spreading in Europe.
