Dr. Ikuhisa Nishida

Ikuhisa NISHIDA is a specially appointed Assistant Professor at the Sakeology Center, Niigata University. He has been working on the regulation system of nitrogen and carbon metabolism in yeasts, mainly analyses of intracellular transport/degradation systems of proline in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and coenzyme Q biosynthetic pathways in Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Now he is particularly interested in the breeding of sake yeast suitable for high-quality sake brewing and healthy aging using yeast as a model cell. His research aims at understanding the “improvement of sake yeast (fermentation efficiency and novel characteristics) in the former, and “search and analysis of factors related to healthy aging in yeast” in the latter.
